About Us

Health Literacy Month is bigger than any one person. Consistent with our mission and message, this year's project is created and run by a team. They include:

  • Michelle Badash MS, Photo Slideshow. For 15+ years, Michelle has been developing award-winning print and Web-based health content for non-profits, academia and the private sector. She currently works as the Managing Editor of an academic international nutrition journal, and is also a freelance consultant specializing in global health and photography projects.
  • Bridgette Collado MA, RD, Social Networking. Bridgette recently completed a Master's degree in Health Communication at Emerson College and is a registered dietitian.  She currently works as a Communication Specialist at Tufts University, as well as consults for online health communities.
  • Eryck Dzotsi, Social Media. Eryck works at Compass Knowledge Group as a search engine optimization and social media expert. He shared those skills with this Health Literacy Month storytelling project. 
  • Randi Kant MS, MPH, CHES, Print Editor. Randi has worked in the fitness and wellness field for over 15 years, addressing a variety of health issues in a wide range of settings for diverse populations. Currently, she is Wellness Initiatives Manager for Mather Lifeways, a unique not-for-profit organization that enhances the lives of older adults through lifestyle and residential alternatives that create Ways to Age Well.®  In this role, she develops innovative whole-person wellness programs for older adults in a community-based setting.
  • Don McCormick, Storytelling Editor. Don is a public information officer at the Iowa Department of Public Health.  A former teacher of English as a foreign/second language, Don's 13 years living abroad allow him to identify with the language and cultural barriers that can contribute to limited health literacy.  He is also the author of a book on cross-cultural communication for Japanese audiences.
  • Phyllis Moir MA, BELS, Print Editor. Phyllis has worked as a writer-editor in the public health sector for almost 20 years. Much of her work has focused on communicating health and wellness information to the public through brochures, newsletters, monographs, and other print media.
  • Robert Moir, Print Editor. Bob has taught English as a Second Language in various U.S. colleges and universities for more than 30 years. He currently teaches in Boston at Northeastern University and Boston University.  He has also worked as a freelance editor on academic projects. 
  • Helen Osborne M.Ed., OTR/L, Health Literacy Month Coordinator. Helen created Health Literacy Month in 1999 and has been leading this worldwide awareness-raising initiative ever since. She is the president of her own consulting business, Health Literacy Consulting based in MA. She also is the host and producer of the podcast series, Health Literacy Out Loud.  
  • Linda L. Rohret, MA, RHEd, Real-World Marketing.  Linda is a health education instructional designer/writing consultant. She also was a medical illustrator. Linda has worked in health education for over 25 years, addressing issues of diverse populations and readability. She has worked on wide variety of projects including geriatric education, public health, cancer education, cancer survivorship, computer-aided instruction, and social marketing. 
  • Adam Weiss, Podcast/Audio Editor. Adam is a successful educational podcaster and podcast consultant. He shows that podcasting is more about story, presentation, and technique than fancy gear and tech toys. He is the creator of Current Science & Technology Podcast for the Museum of Science in Boston which he hosted for more than two years. He also created the acclaimed Boston Behind the Scenes Podcast as well as the experimental Puzzle Podcast. You can find Adam’s podcasting and new media at www.PodcastConsultant.net
