October is Health Literacy Month
Health Literacy Month is a time for organizations and individuals worldwide to promote the importance of understandable health information. Founded in 1999 by Helen Osborne, there have been hundreds, maybe thousands, of awareness-raising events taking place ever since across the U.S. and around the world.
There is no right or wrong way to participate in Health Literacy Month. Since this initiative began, organizations and coalitions have hosted events such as communication workshops for professionals, health education programs for the general public, and classes or other educational offerings for students at all levels. Lately, some of these events happen online or by webinar, rather than on-site or in-person.
As a health literacy advocate, it is up to you to determine best ways to raise awareness about why health literacy matters.

Happy Health Literacy Month,
